What belongs here?
We celebrate the history of BBS software, PCBoard culture, ANSI artwork, door games, telecommunications, file sharing and the unusual communities that formed around a local dial-up number. Our articles are original editorial material informed by published references. Our story collection contains clearly labelled fictional composites inspired by common experiences from the era.
What we're trying to preserve
The hardware and software deserve to be remembered, but the SysOps deserve attention too. They funded the phone lines, managed the servers, moderated arguments, uploaded interesting files and helped newcomers learn to use computers. The website is designed in the spirit of classic PCBoard-era screens, not as an official product of PCBoard or its original developers.
Contribute your perspective
The private message board welcomes discussions about historical systems, local memories, technical questions and individual experiences. New registrations are reviewed by the SysOp before access is granted. Forum posts are visible to approved members and administrators, not to the general public. As on any Internet service, do not post secrets or sensitive personal information.
Copyright and attribution
The site's computer, telephone, modem and floppy illustrations are original SVG graphics. The ANSI-style menus are original demonstrations inspired by historical conventions, not copies of proprietary screens. External resources remain the property of their respective publishers and are linked for further research.
